What product images are in the Asset Bank?

The Hepworth Asset Bank contains thousands of images of products from our vast range of building products. All of our product areas are covered so we have images which will suit the requirement you may have. The product drill-down navigation on the left-hand side of the Asset Bank site provides a fast method for browsing images (and PDF literature) that we currently hold for each of the Hepworth Product ranges. In addition the Asset Bank is easy to search and allows you to download images either one at a time or in batches.

Other than images, what else can I download?

The Asset Bank also gives you access to downloading a range of Hepworth product literature, press releases, price lists, technical documents and branded logos.

How do I perform a basic search for images and literature?

There is a search engine built into the Asset Bank. Use the search box on the top left of the page to enter your search term. This might be a product name (e.g. 'HX22') or a Product Code (e.g. 'HX22/15 GY'). However, you can enter more general term (e.g. 'pipe' or 'bracket)' or even partial search term (e.g. 'Hep2' or 'brack') and the Asset Bank will return all relevant results.

My search has given me many assets - how can I narrow my search?

There are a number of ways to reduce the number of assets found on a general search. You can search again within the results by clicking the 'Search within results' check box to the right of the search box. Alternatively, on the right hand side of the screen you will see a box labelled 'Filter results' with your search results divided into relevant Asset characteristics (the number of assets in each area is shown in brackets). Click on any of these links to narrow the search results. By default you will be shown all of the asset types (I.e. all images, literature and logos) when performing a search. A number of tabs are also displayed at the top of the search results, which allow you to view the results for each asset type (the number of assets for each type is shown in brackets). A further option is to uncheck the asset types (images, literature and logos) and product types (Civils/Infrastructure and Building/Installation) which are selected on the top right of the screen (below the Download Folder box) and then perform the search again.

What if I want to go back to a search I made earlier?

Once you have made a search, a pull-down menu appears to the right of the search box labelled 'Previous searches'. Use this list to find any search you have made that day.

How do I get more information on an image or literature?

When viewing the thumbnail images on a search results page there is a limited amount of information (name and product code) shown. Click on the image or literature cover itself or the asset name and you will be able to see all the image information on one page.

I want to download just one asset. What is the easiest way to do this?

The easiest way to do this is to click the 'Download' icon that appears below an asset in the search results (the icon is a green box with a white downward pointing arrow, which changes to red when you hover over it). The asset will download to your computer.

I want to download more than one asset - is that possible?

You are able to add multiple assets (this can be a mix of images, literature and logos) to the 'Download Folder' and then download all these assets in one go.

How do I add assets to my Download folder?

There are two ways to add assets to the Image Folder. Firstly, on the search results page there is an 'Add to Download Folder' button below each thumbnail image of an asset (This is a folder icon with a green circle containing a white plus symbol). Simply click this button once to add the asset to your Download Folder. The second way is to go to the respective Asset Page and then click the button marked 'Add to folder'. You can view the assets in your Download Folder by clicking the Download Folder icon towards the top right of the screen. Click on the 'Download' button to download the assets in the Download Folder to your computer.

I want to download an image with clipping paths - can I do this?

Yes - if the image has a clipping path, the option will be shown on the asset page. Simply check the 'clipping path' checkbox.

How can I customise the images?

The Asset Bank also has the options to allow you to customise the resolution, size, file format of one or more of your images before they are downloaded. This will save you time making changes to images in a graphics package after you have downloaded them. By choosing the advanced option, this will give you the largest size we have of the respective image. The customisation options are shown on both the Asset Page and also in the Download Folder so you are able to make changes whichever way you choose to download images. Simply make the changes you require using the various pull-down menus and then click 'Download' when you are ready. Note that, for most users, the image width defaults to 300 pixels wide. You can increase this width but if you make the width wider than the original image then the system will automatically show this maximum. The same applies to changes to the height. The 'aspect ratio' of each image is fixed so any changes to an images width will affect the height in direct proportion and vice versa.

What is a PDF?

Developed by Adobe, an Acrobat PDF (standing for Portable Document Format) document is a standard type of computer file which does not rely on you having certain software (other than Acrobat Reader) and fonts installed on your machine. You can think about a PDF as being like a printed document but is viewed on a screen (although, of course, you can always print it on to paper if you wish).

Why should I use the Asset Bank to download Hepworth literature?

There are many advantages to using the Asset Bank. Instead of having to contact Hepworth for a piece of literature which is then sent in the post you can download the document in your own time and have access to the information instantaneously. In addition you can search for all relevant literature, possibly making you aware of literature that you did not know even existed! Finally - using electronic documents means less need for printed versions of Hepworth's literature - which ultimately creates fewer demands on the environment.

Do I need to download the whole PDF each time?

No. When you have found the document you require, click on the thumbnail to view the full details of the asset. On this page you can move through each page of the document and then click the 'Download' button below the 'Current page' heading at the bottom right of the screen. Alternatively you can add the current page to your Download Folder and download the page at a later time.

Do I need any special software to use the Asset Bank?

To view images you will need image viewing software. Most computers come with pre-installed image viewing software such as Windows Image and Fax Viewer. To view PDF literature files you need Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. You may have downloaded this already or it could have been installed for you - if so the PDF will simply appear on your screen when you download it. If you have not got the Acrobat Reader software you will be asked to save the file and then you can go to the Adobe site and download the software for free.

Does it cost anything to use the Asset Bank?

No using the Hepworth Asset Bank is free - and if you need Acrobat Reader this is free too.

What is the Log In link for?

If you register with the Asset Bank you will have access to a password-protected area that will store the last 25 searches you have made (even if they were on a different day) and also determine default setting for the resolution, size and file format. To register simply click the Log In link at the top of the page, click 'Register' and fill in your details on the form.
